What does fatigue after a five-kilometre run reveal?
A paper in Sports by Klara Findrik, Petar Šušnjara and Danijela Kuna examines fatigue following a five-kilometre run. KIFOS lists it among ASPORT’s outputs.
A combined assessment
Among 21 recreational male runners, lactate increased and right-leg quadriceps isometric force decreased. Left-leg force and the measured muscle thickness did not change significantly.
The findings support combining functional, metabolic and perceptual measures. They do not establish the cause of asymmetry or describe long-term recovery: measurements concerned the immediate response to running.
